The Future is Now: The Re-Birth of NOLA youth poetry contest
The Ford Motor Company announces its “The Future Begins Now: the Re-Birth of NOLA” 2010 Poetry Contest. This contest is open to High School Juniors and Seniors with a GPA of 3.5 or above. The deadline for submission is Friday, June 25, 2010. This is a great opportunity for those young people who have a way with words.
“The Future is Now: The Re-Birth of NOLA”
This poetry contest calls for the submission of original poetry, which should be limited to one 2-minute performance. Eligible participants should be in 11th and 12th grades with a GPA of 2.5 or above. Two first place prizes will be awarded: $5,000 U.S. Savings Bond.
All eligible participants must:
submit in writing: Poem, entrant’s name, school, grade level, proof of current GPA, email address, mailing address, and telephone number.
Be present at preliminary judging on WEDNESDAY, JUNE 30th from 5pm-7pm. (Location to be announced)
Perform poetry submission live for no more than 2 minutes.
Top four finalists will be selected from 30 entrants

Be present at the Essence Festival Youth Day on Thursday, July 1, 2010 at 9am
Perform poetry submission live for no more than 2 minutes.
Top two winners will be selected on sight and presented with $5,000 U.S. Savings Bonds.
