MALDEF ENGAGES LATINOS IN NEW ORLEANS WITH WORKSHOP ON 2010 U.S. CENSUS
Community advocates and volunteers invited to help mobilize New Orleans area Latinos
New Orleans, LA – Today, MALDEF announced a free workshop for New Orleans area community leaders and volunteers to learn more about mobilizing Latinos to be counted in the upcoming U.S. Census. This exciting and interactive event will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 6, 2010 at Saint Jerome Church (2400 33rd Street, Kenner, Louisiana 70065) in Kenner. Participants are urged to arrive at 8:30 a.m. to register and enjoy a continental breakfast.
A complete Census count will benefit our neighborhoods for the next ten years and bring much-needed federal resources for schools, hospitals and roads. The goal of the workshop is to train leaders from local communities in Jefferson and Orleans Parishes to spread the message about the importance of participating in the Census and the critical need to count every individual regardless of age, gender, or immigration status.
