Dear concerned community leaders,

    You may be aware that I have proposed a bill, HB521, that establishes a Latin American advisory council.  This council will be seated by a combination of community members throughout the State of Louisiana, as well as state legislative and executive representatives.  There is great interest within the Latino community relative to this bill, and I want to make sure that as many people as possible have the opportunity to provide commentary and learn more about the proposed legislation.  To accomplish this, I will be holding a public forum next Thursday, May 7, 2009, from 7PM to 8PM, at the University of New Orleans Homer Hitt Alumni Board Room at 200 Lakeshore Drive, New Orleans, Louisiana.  I will explain the intent of the bill and field your questions and suggestions.  Please plan to attend, as your participation will help strengthen the final legislation.  I look forward to seeing you there.
