Puentes Launches Hispanic Public Safety Survey
The Hispanic Public Safety Initiative, a program of Puentes New Orleans, Inc., is working to improve relations between the criminal justice system (particularly law enforcement) and the Latino community.
Initiated in 2008 in partnership with the Hispanic Apostolate Community Services of Catholic Charities Archdiocese of New Orleans, and supported by a three-year grant from Baptist Community Ministries and a one-year grant from the United Way of Greater New Orleans, the Hispanic Public Safety Initiative aims to enhance the ability of law enforcement to better serve the Latino community, improve the crime reporting rate of Latino victims of crime, decrease the amount of crime committed against Latinos, and increase the Latino community’s understanding of law enforcement practices and policies.
In conducting this work, one of our major needs is knowledge about community concerns and attitudes about and towards law enforcement. In particular, we are interested in having members of the Latino community complete a confidential survey that we have designed. This survey is easy to complete and will take no more than fifteen minutes of your time. Currently we only have an English language version available, but we expect to have a Spanish language version available in the very near future.
Please take some time to complete the survey by clicking on the link below. Your participation will help us be better informed about community concerns when it comes to law enforcement, and will help us bring this information to local police agencies.
Thank you,
The Hispanic Public Safety Initiative team
