Initiate Our Voice - Latinos in the South

Hello again y’all.

Allow me to Reintroduce myself: my name is Rafael (aka El Rafa) and its been a while since I blogged last, but that is about to change.  As LatiNola progresses and grows we realize that we need to not only civically engage the people in our city and region, but we also understand the need to cultivate an online community to keep our dialogue and presence as fresh and as visible as possible.

To do this I am going to restructure my blog and invite YOU, the reader, the citizen, the concerned human being to become a part of our community by sharing your reactions, responses, and thoughts with me.  I will be posting more frequently and on a variety of topics.  So please feel free to agree, disagree, love, hate, enjoy and become enraged by what is posted here.  Call me out when I’m wrong and boost up my ego when I’m right.  Your comments and responses will be valued as long as the intention is to share, to inform, and to educate.  I will appreciate honesty AND political correctness.  Intolerance will not be tolerated here.

I am no expert in anything and I speak only for myself: a Latino from New Orleans (amongst other things).  As we move forward into a more diverse and integrated society our understandings and opinions of each other become all the more meaningful.  LatiNola is working hard to engage our Latino population in the hopes that we become more engaged in our city’s society, culture, and recovery.

Please remember to react and respond when you can and don’t forget to vote!

Gracias,

EL Rafa

To get dialogue started, I would just like to say that this type of blog is certainly needed as a way to get an intelligent voice out there from the Latino Community. However, I would hesitate to limit your content to issues pertaining only to the Latino population or even issues pertaining to community engagement/advocacy. We, the ADHD generation, need some sort of stimulus (even if it is low-brow). So I encourage you to give your opinion on all sorts of things and to link back to anything you may think as funny because, hell, we all love to laugh.

In that vein of thought, I introduce all of you to vlad and friend Boris:
